Memory reconsolidation is the brain's built-in mechanism for lasting change.
Focused Trauma Processing™ (FTP) gives you a structured, step-by-step way to work with trauma and help clients get unstuck, even when years of therapy haven't helped.

Who has all the insight and knows exactly why they react the way they do. And they still do it. They still flinch, still shut down, still withdraw. They see their patterns but can't shake loose from them.
It's not their fault, and it isn't resistance. Insight lives in one part of the brain. The trauma response lives in another, and talk alone rarely reaches it. The memory still feels the same and keeps reacting the same way, no matter how well the client understands it. That's why clients stay stuck: the emotions wind up directing the behavior.
The brain has a natural mechanism for exactly that update. It's called memory reconsolidation, and it's the secret sauce behind the modalities that get results. FTP teaches you to work with this mechanism directly.
When a trauma memory is brought to mind, it briefly becomes changeable. For a short window, the brain will accept an update.
Give it a strong enough new experience inside that window, and it stores a revised version of the memory with the emotional charge turned down or completely eliminated. Four moves, in order:
The target memory is recalled with enough emotional connection to open the reconsolidation window.
A contradictory experience interrupts the memory's old prediction. This is called a mismatch, and it is the active ingredient.
An exercise desensitizes the memory or trigger and lets the client rehearse a new outcome while the window is open, giving the brain a new experience.
The updated memory is stored with reduced emotional charge. The change holds because the memory has been experienced in a new way.
Reconsolidation is the mechanism already at work inside therapies you may know, including EMDR, Brainspotting, and other trauma treatments.
FTP breaks the process down to its essential parts and gives you a clear protocol for using memory reconsolidation in a consistent, predictable, and even spontaneous way.
Your results depend less on a script and more on your understanding of what actually creates the change.
A webinar that explains the reconsolidation mechanism, demonstrates the bilateral stimulation tool, and includes a deep dive session walk-through, plus the TAPS Session Navigator™ clinical reference to keep beside you in session.
The complete FTP method across six pre-recorded, self-paced mini-courses: assessment, the reconsolidation model, Flash, the full protocol, grounding, and attachment repair. Purchase one at a time or all together. Lifetime access.
Small-group live training with coached practicum sessions, live session replays, and the Certified FTP Practitioner track. 12 NBCC CE credits (approved).
The TAPS Session Navigator™ webinar is a complete introduction to navigating memory reconsolidation sessions with confidence. You'll learn the model in plain language, see the free bilateral stimulation tool in action, and follow an edited therapy session with commentary that highlights the critical clinical decisions from start to finish.
You'll also receive the TAPS Session Navigator™ itself: the clinician reference that keeps you anchored to the reconsolidation mechanism during your sessions. Every decision point, technique branch, and phase transition on four pages.
It's offered free with a promo code, because you should be able to watch a method work before you invest in learning it.
Your promo code is applied automatically when you register from this page.
Each mini-course is built around a specific FTP tool or clinical technique. You don't just study the tool. You experience it yourself, reflect on what you felt, and leave with a concrete plan to use it with your very next client. Every module ends with a felt sense of the tool and a clear sense of how to bring it into your own sessions.
01How cumulative adversity shapes the nervous system, and how these three instruments set the tone for your work with a client and establish real, measurable baselines. You'll learn to administer and score all three fluently, translate the results into a course of action, and identify which clients are ready for processing work and which need to develop processing skills first. You'll complete each instrument on yourself before you ever hand one to a client.
02The reconsolidation model in working clinical depth: why trauma memories keep their charge, what actually opens the update window, and how to explain the mechanism to clients in language that builds buy-in. You'll leave able to describe, recognize, and plan around reconsolidation in your own sessions. You'll also practice spotting the moments in session when a memory has become open to change, and learn what strengthens that window — and what quietly closes it.
03A low-activation method for reducing the charge of traumatic memory without asking clients to relive it. You'll experience the technique yourself, learn the setup and pacing that keep activation low, and practice guiding the process from start to finish so you can bring it into your very next session.
04The complete session structure: the FTP 5-step protocol from activation through reconsolidation, and the Colored Dots Tool that keeps you and your client oriented at every phase. You'll walk the full protocol yourself and leave with a session map you can run with confidence — practicing each of the five steps in sequence and using the Colored Dots Tool to track exactly where your client is in the process, so you always know what comes next and why.
05Keeping clients inside the window of tolerance so deeper processing becomes possible. You'll experience the grounding and stabilization practices yourself, learn when stabilization has to come before processing, and build a toolkit for the moments when distress doesn't come down on schedule. You'll leave with a personal grounding sequence you've tested on yourself, and a clear rule of thumb for when to stabilize and when to proceed with processing.
06Learn how to move beyond trauma resolution alone by integrating attachment repair, emotional flashback interventions, and post-traumatic growth into a unified treatment approach. You'll experience the Ideal Parent Figure, a clinically developed attachment repair exercise, distinguish when clients need trauma processing versus attachment repair, and practice responding to emotional flashbacks as they unfold. You'll finish by designing a complete treatment roadmap for one complex client, knowing not only what intervention to use, but when to use it and why.
Each module stands alone, but they build clinical depth in sequence. The bundle gives you all six for less than the price of five.
The mini-courses are built around real material: recorded FTP sessions with consenting clients, edited for teaching, walkthroughs of the clinician's control panel for the bilateral stimulation tool and use of the colored dots, and the same scripts and assessment instruments used in an active trauma practice. You see the pacing, the check-ins, the branching decisions, and what to do when distress doesn't come down on schedule.
"Watching the live demonstrations was the most effective part. That brought it to life in a way that felt really helpful, understanding what it looks like, not just what it sounds like."CBT therapist, 13 years in practice
Alongside the demonstrations, each module teaches the mechanism underneath the technique, so you understand what you're doing rather than following steps. That understanding is what lets you adapt your intervention to how your client is responding.
"I did my first FTP session with a client today who started at a 9 and 45 minutes later was at a 2! I was floored!"Recent pre-licensed graduate
"This feels very accessible. Whereas the EMDR courses I took were so belabored in the setup that I felt overwhelmed, this did a good job picking out the concise ways to get the content across."EMDR-trained clinician
"I used to freeze every time a client dissociated. After this training, I feel calm, I know what to do, and clients tell me it's the first time they've felt real relief."Five-year post-graduate therapist
"The simplicity of the process means I'm able to jump in with it and reconceptualize how to use other approaches I already know."Veteran therapist
"This guy went from literally throwing up every time he walked in the door of work to just being able to focus. Everything shifted after just one thirty-minute session."Pre-licensed therapist
"It really took me from book knowledge to the actual step of using the content and really understanding what was happening."Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner

The Live FTP Cohort is where the method becomes second nature — its own live curriculum, taught in sequence across six sessions with supervised practicum throughout.
Small-group live sessions with coached practicum: you run the protocol with a colleague while receiving live coaching through your decision points in real time, then you debrief what both sides felt.
You'll also study full session replays with real clients — Flash with Ren, FTP with Bojana, the Ideal Parent Figure demonstration, and a Flash demonstration from Philip Manfield — so you see what the work actually looks like across different presentations: the pacing, the setbacks, the adjustments, and the moments where everything shifts.
The six live sessions build in sequence: trauma foundations and assessment, the reconsolidation science, Flash technique mastery, the full FTP protocol, attachment repair integration, and advanced applications — with supervised practicum in sessions three, five, and six.
Cohort members work toward the Certified FTP Practitioner designation by completing 20 FTP sessions with clients and three live demonstrations with a colleague in the course, with ongoing practice groups and community support after the course ends.

Dave is a licensed clinical social worker in Portland, Oregon, and the founder of Focused Trauma Processing™ and Untalk Therapy LLC. Reconsolidation-based work is the core of his clinical practice: more than 8,000 hours helping clients resolve trauma, from single-incident anxiety to complex PTSD.
FTP grew out of years of doing this work daily and asking why the effective modalities work. The answer, memory reconsolidation, became the organizing principle for a training that teaches the mechanism first, so practitioners can be flexible instead of script-dependent.
Dave trains licensed and pre-licensed clinicians, graduate students, coaches, and healers, anyone who works with people experiencing chronic distress.
His courses emphasize experiential learning: you receive every tool as a client before you deliver it as a clinician.
The free TAPS Session Navigator™ webinar walks you through the whole method — including an edited replay of a real session, with commentary on the clinical decisions that make it work. If it changes how you see your stuck clients, the mini-courses are waiting.
